Two arrested with 150,000 Tramadol capsules in Adamawa
Adamawa State Police Arrest Two for Illicit Drug Trafficking
The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals accused of illegally transporting Tramadol capsules valued at N5.25 million.
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Bashiru Ibrahim and 26-year-old Mustapha Labbo, both residents of Jamtari, were taken into custody while allegedly transporting the drugs from Jamtari to Garwa, Cameroon.
According to police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje, the arrests occurred on August 11, 2026, when a patrol team from the Area Command in Yola intercepted the suspects near Dabala Village, close to Malabu.
“A search conducted by the patrol team led to the recovery of 150 packs containing a total of 150,000 Tramadol capsules, with an estimated street value of N5,250,000,” Nguroje reported.
Both suspects and the seized drugs are now in police custody. An investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify any additional individuals involved in the operation.
The police command has called on residents to continue providing information to assist in crime prevention and community safety. “The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Kabir Hassan, reiterates its commitment to combating the trafficking and abuse of illicit and controlled substances in the state,” the statement emphasized.
In a related matter, police reported that an unidentified child was found and turned over to authorities by a resident. The child was discovered at the Temporary Market Bypass by Shitu Mahmudu, a resident of Wuro Hausa in Yola South Local Government Area.
Currently, the child is unable to provide any information regarding his identity or family and is being kept safely at the Yola Division.
