Bauchi State Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Woman for Attempted Murder
Bauchi, Nigeria – The Bauchi State Police Command has detained a 19-year-old woman, Aisha Musa, on charges of attempting to murder her husband by allegedly poisoning his food. The incident occurred in Gwamma Village, located in the Bauchi Local Government Area.
Musa, who had been married for approximately 40 days, is accused of introducing a toxic substance into her husband’s meal on August 12, 2026.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib, police were alerted around 7:40 p.m. when an anonymous caller from the Wunti Dada area reported the incident. Officers from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, promptly responded and transported the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
Habib stated that Musa was arrested shortly after the event and reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Authorities recovered an empty bottle believed to have contained the poison, along with remnants of the contaminated meal, which have been documented as evidence.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has instructed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. “The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” Habib noted.
The police command has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the community and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement.
