Police arrest six over viral video of motorists’ harassment in Lagos

LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six individuals following the circulation of a video that purportedly shows suspects harassing motorists on a city road.
SP Abimbola Adebisi, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests on Thursday via her account on X, the social media platform. The video in question depicted individuals attempting to damage a vehicle’s side mirror, raising alarms within the community.
Adebisi stated that the police had been actively monitoring the activities of such individuals prior to the video’s emergence online. “The command wishes to clarify that it had already been on the lookout for, and taking proactive measures against, miscreants involved in such activities even before the said video surfaced,” she said.
Following the incident highlighted in the video, the six suspects were apprehended along the same road. An investigation is currently underway.
To enhance safety in the area, additional police personnel have been deployed to strengthen surveillance and deter further incidents.
Adebisi commended the public for reporting the incident and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that may assist law enforcement efforts.
She reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to protecting both motorists and residents while addressing criminal activities throughout Lagos State.
