Transfer: Arsenal set asking price for Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal Sets Asking Price for Gabriel Martinelli in Transfer Negotiations

Arsenal has established a valuation for Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli as the club seeks a record transfer fee for the player. Reports indicate that discussions are underway with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal regarding a potential move.

Martinelli’s time at Arsenal appears to be nearing its conclusion, as he was left out of the matchday squads for both the Community Shield and the recent Premier League fixture against Coventry City. His absence has drawn attention, especially following the impressive debut of summer signing Christos Tzolis, who has filled Martinelli’s preferred left-wing position.

Manager Mikel Arteta has signaled a desire to make further attacking signings ahead of the transfer deadline, acknowledging that tough decisions are imminent. In recent statements, he confirmed that players such as Myles Lewis-Skelly and Martin Zubimendi remain part of his plans, while Arsenal is inclined to loan out Ethan Nwaneri.

These developments have positioned Martinelli as one of Arsenal’s most valuable assets, suggesting that the 25-year-old may not be deemed essential to the team’s ambitions moving forward. According to The Athletic, the forward is open to the idea of joining the Saudi Pro League, having previously declined a transfer to Galatasaray earlier this month.

Arsenal is reportedly aiming for a fee of around £60 million for Martinelli, who was signed by the club seven years ago from Brazilian side Ituano, largely due to the recommendation of renowned scout Francis Cagigao.

Martinelli’s omission from Arsenal’s squad for their victory against Manchester City in the Community Shield has raised eyebrows. Former player Ian Wright has expressed dissatisfaction over the handling of the situation, considering Martinelli’s contributions over his tenure with the club.
