2027: Atiku has nothing to offer Nigerians – Sowore

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore criticized Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that he offers nothing of value to Nigerians. Sowore’s comments were shared on his verified social media account on Sunday, coinciding with the lead-up to Nigeria’s upcoming general elections in 2027.
Sowore, who is the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), emphasized Atiku’s long-standing presence in Nigeria’s political scene since the 1980s. He highlighted Atiku’s tenure as vice president, during which significant investments were made in the power sector, yet many Nigerians continue to face electricity shortages.
In a recent interview, Atiku promised to reinstate fuel subsidies if he is elected in the next election, arguing that the removal of these subsidies under President Bola Tinubu has not benefited the nation.
Sowore questioned Atiku’s ability to bring about meaningful change, asserting, “After decades at the center of Nigeria’s political system, what fundamentally different future is Atiku offering Nigerians today? Nothing!”
He further stressed the need for the country to move away from established political elites, calling for a “clean break” from a system he believes has led to poverty, corruption, and insecurity in Nigeria.
