Kano NSCDC Arrests Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers
KANO, Nigeria — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended two individuals suspected of cattle rustling after they were allegedly caught transporting a stolen cow in a vehicle.
The suspects, identified as Jamilu Saadu, 45, and Nura Abdullahi, 37, were arrested around 3 a.m. Tuesday at a mining checkpoint along the Tudun Wada–Kiru Road in Kiru Local Government Area.
According to the NSCDC, operatives intercepted a Sharon Galaxy vehicle, which bore the registration number JJN 606 AE, during a routine operation at the checkpoint. Upon inspection, they discovered a cow tied and concealed in the rear section of the vehicle.
In a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, it was noted that two additional suspects managed to escape when they spotted the operatives. “Two other suspected accomplices, believed to be the principal suspects, took to their heels and are currently at large,” the statement read.
The NSCDC is actively pursuing the fleeing suspects. The arrested men remain in custody along with the recovered cow and two machetes, as a comprehensive investigation is underway. This investigation aims to clarify the circumstances of the alleged cattle rustling and to identify the rightful owner of the animal.
The Command stated that the suspects would face legal action following the completion of the investigation.
“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly,” the NSCDC affirmed.
The Corps reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while combating criminal activities in Kano State. They encouraged the public to assist security agencies by providing credible information that may help in preventing and addressing crime.
