Kebbi Police Arrest Suspected Vandal, Recover Stolen Electricity Cables
BUNZA, Kebbi State — The Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended a suspect and seized a significant quantity of stolen electricity cables during an operation in Bunza Local Government Area.
Mustapha Abubakar, identified as the suspect, was arrested on August 25, 2026, in the Kara area of Bunza town. This operation was initiated in response to rising concerns about theft and vandalism affecting electricity infrastructure in the region, which has disrupted power supply to various communities.
During the operation, police recovered 10 bundles and seven sacks of service cables. Following his arrest, Abubakar has been arraigned in court, according to a statement from the state police.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, stated that this recovery is part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat the theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure. He reaffirmed the commitment of the police to safeguard public facilities and ensure that those responsible for such crimes are brought to justice.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
