ADC Chieftain Criticizes Presidential Air Fleet Expansion
Dino Melaye, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has criticized the Bola Tinubu administration for increasing the number of aircraft in the presidential air fleet. In a statement shared on his verified social media account, Melaye referred to the expansion as “ridiculous” for a nation grappling with economic challenges.
Melaye highlighted that the Nigerian Air Force has not received any new aircraft throughout 2025, raising concerns over the management of resources amidst ongoing financial strains.
The former senator for Kogi West noted that the current administration has added five aircraft to the presidential fleet in less than four years, calling it a “record-breaking” figure.
The aircraft mentioned include the following:
- 5N-FGY, a brand-new Bombardier GL7T
- T7-FGQ, a three-year-old Pilatus PC-24
- 5N-FGA, an Airbus A330
- M-FGNG and M-NGSA, both Gulfstream G500.
Melaye indicated that the government has purchased three of these aircraft outright, while two others have been leased from a private company, although the lease terms remain undisclosed.
