‘They told me I won’t see my husband alive’ – Widow of Plateau clergy killed by bandits
The widow of Pastor Emmanuel Hills, a Plateau State clergyman who was abducted and killed by suspected Fulani bandits on August 28, recounted the distressing events surrounding her husband’s death.
In a video that circulated on social media, Mrs. Hills described how the assailants taunted her as they took her husband and another clergyman, Pastor Gabriel Dipak, into the bush. “As they were being dragged away, one of the men turned to me and said I would not see my husband alive again,” she stated.
Pastor Hills, a Ghanaian missionary and Senior Pastor of the Wonderful Grace of God Ministry, also served as the treasurer of the Bokkos chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. His body was discovered the following morning, near the location of his abduction.
According to reports, Pastor Hills was traveling from Jos to Bokkos with his wife and other passengers when their vehicle was intercepted by the gunmen. After forcing the vehicle to stop, the assailants targeted Pastors Hills and Dipak while robbing the remaining passengers of their belongings.
Mrs. Hills recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “I can confirm that they were Fulani people because they were speaking the language and were armed with various weapons.” She pleaded with the bandits to release her husband and Pastor Dipak after they had robbed the group, but the assailants insisted on abducting them.
“My husband was a dedicated servant of God and a respected leader within the Christian community in Bokkos,” Mrs. Hills said. “Now I am a widow, and my five children are fatherless.”
