El-Rufai Family Demands Retraction from Defence Minister
ABUJA — The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has issued a seven-day deadline to Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (ret.) to either provide supporting evidence for his recent allegations or retract his statements regarding El-Rufai’s involvement in violent acts in Southern Kaduna.
The family articulated their demands in a statement released on Monday, signed by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai.
During a live broadcast of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026, Musa alleged that El-Rufai was actively involved in orchestrating killings while in office as governor. The El-Rufai family deemed these assertions “grave,” expressing concern over the lack of evidence accompanying the minister’s claims.
While acknowledging Musa’s right to express personal opinions, the family insisted on the need for credible evidence to support such significant accusations.
In their statement, the family said, “In the absence of such evidence, we call on him to publicly retract the allegation through the same medium on which it was made.”
They further specified that General Musa has seven days from the date of the statement to either substantiate his claims or issue a full public retraction and apology.
The family indicated that failure to comply would leave them with no choice but to pursue legal action. “Failure to do so will leave the family with no option but to pursue all appropriate legal remedies available under the law in response to these unsubstantiated allegations,” the statement read.
