2026 Ballon d’Or: I won’t beg for award – Lamine Yamal
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has stated that he will not actively seek to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or award. Speaking to the media on the eve of the team’s Champions League match, Yamal emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with the voters.
“I don’t think I need to campaign for the Ballon d’Or. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” Yamal said.
He added, “I’m not here to campaign, and I’m not going to beg for anything. That’s your job. It’s not on me.” He noted that his success in winning the award does not solely depend on his efforts.
Yamal highlighted the collective achievements of his teammates, both at FC Barcelona and the national team. “The work we’ve done with Barça and the national team has been unbelievable,” he remarked.
He expressed gratitude towards his teammates for their support, stating, “I’ll be grateful to my teammates at Barça and with the national team if I win it, of course.”
