WAFU B Women’s Champions League: Ampem Darkoa protest final defeat to Edo Queens
Ghanaian football club Ampem Darkoa Ladies has formally protested their recent defeat to Edo Queens in the final of the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League.
The club’s management submitted a protest to both the West African Football Union (WAFU-B) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), contesting the decision to proceed directly to a penalty shoot-out after the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Edo Queens ultimately secured a 4-1 victory in penalties, marking their second WAFU-B title.
Ampem Darkoa asserts that they were not informed about the protocol allowing a direct transition to penalties, which they argue is inconsistent with the CAF Women’s Champions League Regulations.
In their protest, the Ghanaian club has requested that 30 minutes of extra time be played, or alternatively, that the match be resumed from the point where it concluded before the penalty shoot-out commenced.
The matter is now pending review by the appropriate WAFU-B and CAF authorities.
