Kano court orders special care for man who cut off finger over N80m
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Sharia Court has ordered correctional authorities to provide special medical care for Yusuf Mahmud Rano, who severed his own finger after allegedly being promised 80 million naira for the act.
During proceedings held in Jogana, the court stated it could not issue a judgment as previously scheduled because government lawyers were needed for the session. The presiding judge, Malam Kamalu Haruna, announced that the case would be adjourned until Thursday, September 17, 2026, and ordered that Rano and three co-defendants remain in custody during this period.
The court instructed the Kano State Correctional Service to ensure that Rano receives adequate medical attention while in custody, emphasizing the need for special care.
Rano, along with co-defendants Abdurrahman Abbas Kwasamgwami Gezawa, Sha’aibu Yawale Daganawa Bunkure, and Abubakar Iliyasu Zangon Dakata, had previously pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and attempted sorcery.
