Ordinance Day: NOA Osun urges Nigerians to uphold national values
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Osun State has urged Nigerians to embrace discipline, patriotism, integrity, and respect for authority as the nation observes National Ordinance Day 2026.
In a statement released Wednesday, State Director Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen emphasized the importance of this occasion as a time for reflection on values that foster responsible citizenship and contribute to national development. The statement was also endorsed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Olaseinde.
Adefarasin reiterated the agency’s dedication to promoting positive changes in alignment with the National Values Charter. He called on citizens to adhere to lawful ordinances and regulations while maintaining law and order.
The director further emphasized the importance of respecting national symbols, including the Nigerian flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem, National Pledge, naira, and Nigerian passport. He warned that the abuse, defacement, or improper handling of these symbols is seen as unpatriotic and may incur legal consequences.
To enhance awareness, the Osun State Directorate plans to amplify its sensitization efforts across all 30 local government areas. Activities will include community engagements, school outreach programs, market sensitization, and media advocacy.
Adefarasin also called upon traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women’s groups, civil society organizations, and the media to collaborate in fostering a society grounded in discipline, patriotism, responsible citizenship, and respect for the rule of law.
