Rivers: Police present N76m to families of fallen officers


The Rivers State Police Command has disbursed a total of 76,016,799.28 Nigerian Naira in cheques to the families and beneficiaries of police officers who died while on duty.

Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju presented the cheques on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu. This initiative is part of a welfare program aimed at supporting the families of officers who have lost their lives in service.

According to a statement released on Thursday by Police Public Relations Officer ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, Adepoju emphasized the commitment of the Inspector-General to the welfare of police personnel and their families. He assured the beneficiaries that the sacrifices of the deceased officers would not be forgotten and expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General for his ongoing support for the families of fallen officers.

“The financial assistance will provide meaningful support to the beneficiaries during a difficult period,” Adepoju stated.

In response, the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to both the Inspector-General and the Rivers State Police Command, highlighting the gesture as a sign of the police’s continued care for the families of officers who served actively.
