Obasanjo, Atiku responsible for closure of Nigerian industries – Oshiomhole

Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole on Thursday attributed the closure of industries in Nigeria to the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ekiti State, Oshiomhole asserted that their tenure was marked by the shutdown of major companies such as Michelin and Dunlop, which he claimed contributed to Nigeria’s shift towards becoming an importing nation.
Oshiomhole urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections, highlighting the current administration’s approval of a new minimum wage for workers. He further questioned Atiku Abubakar’s current concerns over unemployment, referencing past statements made by the former vice president regarding the spending of $16 billion on power during the Obasanjo administration.
“Who closed down Nigerian industries? Who closed down Michelin? Who closed down Dunlop? Who reduced Nigeria to importer of everything from underwear to socks? It was done by the government and party which Atiku belonged to,” Oshiomhole said.
