EPL table: Man City go three points clear of Arsenal with 5-3 win over Sunderland

Manchester City Claims Top Spot in Premier League After High-Scoring Victory

MANCHESTER, England — Manchester City solidified its position at the pinnacle of the Premier League table with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Sunderland on Sunday.

The match unfolded at a pivotal moment for City, as their rivals, Arsenal, experienced a 3-0 defeat against Brighton on Saturday. This result afforded City an opportunity to extend their lead over the defending champions.

City struck first with a well-placed free kick from Enzo Fernandez. However, Sunderland quickly responded with a goal from Brian Brobbey to equalize. The back-and-forth continued as Rayan Cherki restored City’s advantage, only for Brobbey to level the match once again by tapping into an empty net.

Antoine Semenyo then netted two goals, extending City’s lead to a more secure margin. Despite Brobbey completing his hat-trick shortly thereafter, Erling Haaland sealed the win for City, securing a three-point lead over Arsenal in the league standings.
