Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Mother in Abia State
OBINGWA, Abia State — Livingston Nwakanma has been arrested by members of the Osaa Ukwu community for allegedly killing his mother, Mrs. Nwaigbe Nwakanma, with a machete.
The incident occurred on Saturday, when the 29-year-old suspect reportedly attacked his mother in their home while she was preparing food. Witnesses say he fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Community youths apprehended Livingston after a brief search following the attack, which left the community in shock and mourning. Mrs. Nwaigbe, known locally as Daa Nwaigbe, was a well-regarded trader in the area.
While the Abia State Police Command has not yet confirmed the details of the incident, the deceased’s husband, Dede Nwakanma, provided an account of the event, describing it as a tragic loss. He stated that his son had exhibited signs of mental instability for the past four years.
The community is grappling with the aftermath of the attack, and authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation progresses.
