Rivers United Draws 1-1 with Nasarawa United
Port Harcourt—Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United on Saturday.
Rivers United opened the scoring when Nasarawa’s Harrison Ebah inadvertently directed the ball into his own net in the 68th minute. However, Nasarawa United equalized six minutes before the end of regulation with a goal from Musa Yakubu.
Despite securing a point, Finidi acknowledged the challenges posed during the match.
“Every game is difficult, even when playing at home. We needed to find a way to secure that important point,” he said in remarks reported by Rivers United’s media team.
Finidi also commented on the defensive strategy towards the match’s conclusion, noting that his players became overly cautious, which led to conceding the equalizer.
“My only concern was that the penalty decision was questionable; the referee insisted he saw the incident. We have to move on and focus on the next match.”
With this draw, Rivers United has accumulated seven points from three matches this season.
