Super Eagles: Brentford defender Kayode reveals he was approached by Nigeria
Brentford defender Michael Kayode confirmed that he has been approached by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding a potential call-up to the Super Eagles.
Born in Borgomanero, Italy, the 22-year-old is of Nigerian descent and has recently received his first senior call-up to represent Italy. Kayode has already made a significant impact at the youth level, where he helped Italy secure victory in the 2023 UEFA European U-19 Championship by scoring the decisive goal in the final against Portugal.
Despite the NFF’s interest, Kayode stated that he has no intentions of switching his international allegiance. “It was a very easy decision. I went through all the youth teams here. Nigeria approached me, but I never thought about changing national teams,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.
