Full list: Atiku appoints Ibrahim-Imam, El-Rufai, Dino Melaye, others to ADC Campaign Council
ABUJA — Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has established his Presidential Campaign Council in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Kashim Ibrahim-Imam has been appointed as chairman, with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai serving as deputy chairman.
The council’s formation was announced Thursday by Phrank Shaibu, the Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council and Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication.
Senator Austin Akobundu will take on the roles of Director-General and Campaign Manager, overseeing the coordination of the campaign operations and the implementation of its strategy. The campaign structure consists of six Deputy Directors-General responsible for various operational directorates, alongside 30 directors assigned specific tasks.
Dele Momodu, a veteran journalist and publisher, will head the Media and Communications Directorate. Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, is tasked with leading the Contact and Mobilisation efforts. The Policy Team will be chaired by economist and banker Mohammed Hayatudeen, who will collaborate with Professor Mohammed Sagagi and Professor Kingsley Moghalu, among others.
John Oyegun, the former governor of Edo State and the first National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, will chair the Campaign Advisory Board.
Shaibu noted that the campaign structure is designed to be lean and responsive to the economic challenges facing Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of addressing critical issues such as the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity, and declining purchasing power in their campaign strategy.
“Our measure of success will be how effectively we organize to make Nigeria affordable again while addressing pressing issues,” Shaibu stated.
The campaign council is tasked with coordinating activities for Atiku’s presidential campaign nationwide as the election approaches. The ADC has already submitted Atiku’s name as its presidential candidate and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as the vice-presidential candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
