AFCON qualifier: Chelle provides injury update on Osimhen, two others

UYO, Nigeria — Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle provided an injury update on Thursday for three players ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar, scheduled for Friday evening.

Chelle confirmed that Victor Osimhen, Alhassan Yusuf, and Dele-Bashiru will not participate in the match due to injuries. Despite this setback, he expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform without them.

“We have a lot of injured players, including Victor Osimhen, Alhassan Yusuf, and Dele-Bashiru, but it’s not a problem for us,” Chelle told reporters. “We are ready. It will be difficult because Madagascar is a strong team, and they defeated Nigeria in 2019.”
