NPFL: NFF demands fair officiating from referees
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued a warning to referees regarding their officiating decisions in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This directive aims to enhance the quality of officiating within the league.
The warning was conveyed in a memorandum addressed to all clubs and signed by Mohammed Ameenu from the NFF Refereeing Development Committee. In the memo, the NFF acknowledged the improved performances of referees over the first six weeks of the league.
However, the document also noted instances of incorrect calls, including significant misinterpretations of the Laws of the Game. Referees are reminded to adhere to principles of equity, fairness, and standardized interpretation of the updated rules.
The NFF reiterated that any referee who fails to comply with these guidelines and jeopardizes the integrity of the game will face dismissal and possible prosecution by security agencies.
