Abducted NYSC members: Don’t let kidnappers kill our children – Parents beg Olubadan, Oyo CP

Parents of Kidnapped NYSC Members Seek Urgent Intervention
Ibadan, Nigeria — The parents of several prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were abducted on Thursday, have appealed for assistance from local leaders to secure the safe return of their children. The families made their pleas during a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, at his residence on Saturday.
According to reports, 19 NYSC candidates were kidnapped early Thursday morning while traveling from Ibadan to training camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom States. The parents gathered at the Olubadan’s residence, urging him to engage with relevant stakeholders to facilitate the release of their children without harm.
At the meeting, Oyo State Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga and Oba Sefiu Adeyeri, the Aseyin of Iseyinland, were present. The families used this opportunity to implore the traditional ruler and police officials for immediate intervention.
The parents reported that the gunmen had contacted them using the mobile phones of the abducted students, raising concerns over the safety of their children. Alhaja Alimot Akande, one of the concerned parents, expressed her fears regarding the threats made by the abductors and appealed for swift action from the Olubadan, the police commissioner, and the Aseyin.
“They are threatening that anything untoward will happen to our children if we fail to heed their request. Baba, kindly assist us. Don’t let them kill our children,” she said.
As community concerns grow, local leaders are being urged to take decisive action to ensure the safe return of the victims.
