Choose dialogue over violence – Peter Obi tells Umuoba-Anam, Aguleri communities
Peter Obi Calls for Peace Between Clashing Communities in Anambra
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigerian Democratic Congress, has urged residents of the Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri communities in Anambra East Local Government Area to halt hostilities and pursue peace.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Obi expressed concern over escalating tensions between the two communities. He emphasized that continued conflict would lead only to further destruction, particularly at a time when many Nigerians are already facing economic challenges.
“I am deeply pained by the reports of hostilities between the good people of Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri in Anambra East LGA of Anambra State,” Obi stated. He warned that the ongoing violence serves no purpose and exacerbates the struggles of the local population.
Obi called for both communities to cease hostilities immediately and choose dialogue rather than violence. “No grievance, however serious, is worth the loss of lives, the destruction of homes and livelihoods, or the pain inflicted on families,” he noted.
He concluded by appealing for wisdom among local leaders and divine intervention for peace in both communities.
