Rohingya Refugees Arrive in Myanmar Amid Repatriation Efforts
October 5, 2026
Nearly 1,500 migrants from Myanmar, including Rohingya refugees, returned to the country as part of Malaysia’s initiative to repatriate up to 5,000 migrants. Human rights advocates and United Nations representatives have expressed concerns regarding the safety of these individuals upon their return.
Rohingya rights activist Nur Sadek emphasized the injustice of this repatriation, stating, “It’s very unfair to send us back to the place we fled from.” He highlighted the ongoing challenges and dangers that continue to threaten the Rohingya community in Myanmar.
As the repatriation efforts progress, international organizations continue to advocate for the rights and safety of displaced individuals. They argue that conditions in Myanmar remain volatile and unsuitable for the return of refugees.
