2027: ADC vows to dislodge APC in Niger, drums support for Kpautagi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State has announced its intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, positioning its candidate, Dr. Mohammed Kpautagi, as a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

State Chairman El Amin El Waziri made the announcement during Kpautagi’s visit to Mokwa Local Government Area on Monday, part of a two-day outreach in his constituency and surrounding areas of Zone A. El Waziri criticized the current APC administration, citing widespread hardship faced by Nigerians.

“Change is necessary, and we are here to rally the Gwari, Hausa, and Nupe communities to unite and support our cause in the 2027 elections,” El Waziri said.

He emphasized that the visit was not a campaign event but rather an opportunity to engage with community elders. In addition, he encouraged local residents to back the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the upcoming election.

ADC Zonal Chairman Gimba Tswatagi characterized Kpautagi as a committed grassroots politician capable of leading efforts to address local needs effectively.

Kpautagi’s running mate, Mamman Musa, spoke to Gwari residents, acknowledging the roles of traditional and religious leaders in promoting peaceful coexistence and urging community support for both local development initiatives and Kpautagi’s governorship bid.

During the campaign, Prof. Rabiu Bello Nasko, the Director-General of Kpautagi’s campaign, delivered a request from the Kpautagi New Market Association, which called for the addition of stores, solar lighting, and other improvements for the market.

The ADC delegation also visited Edati and Lavun local government areas, where they paid courtesy visits to local leaders, including the Bima of Enagi and the Ezonuwon of Kutigi.
