Gov Alia mourns 32 military personnel, condoles families, Nigerian Air Force

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia has expressed deep sorrow following the crash of a Nigerian military aircraft in Igbokoda, Ondo State, which resulted in the deaths of 32 military personnel.
Governor Alia referred to the tragedy as a painful national loss, underscoring the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers who dedicated their lives to the service and protection of Nigeria.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Nigerian Air Force, and the families and colleagues of the deceased.
“The sacrifice of these heroes will not be forgotten,” Governor Alia stated, praising members of the Armed Forces for their continued courage and patriotism in the face of danger. He highlighted the risks military personnel encounter while defending the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
The governor encouraged bereaved families to find solace in the knowledge that their loved ones served with honor and distinction. He also called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine its causes and implement measures that could prevent similar incidents in the future.
Governor Alia commended emergency responders and relevant authorities for their swift actions following the crash. He urged Nigerians to remember the bereaved families and the Armed Forces in their thoughts and prayers.
He prayed for the souls of the departed and asked God to grant their families and colleagues the strength to cope with their loss.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Benue State, I extend our deepest condolences to the families of the fallen personnel, the Nigerian Air Force, and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he concluded. “We share in this moment of national grief and honor the memory of those who paid the supreme price in service to our country. May God grant them eternal rest and give their families the strength to bear this painful loss.”
