Jigawa community celebrates after three years of peace between farmers, herders
Guri Local Government Council Marks Three Years of Peace in Jigawa
GURI, Jigawa State – The Guri Local Government Council has marked three years of sustained peace in a region previously troubled by frequent clashes between farmers and herders.
Alhaji Abubakar Umar Danbarde, the Chairman of the Guri Local Government Area, announced the milestone during a recent press briefing. He credited the achievement to the efforts of the Jigawa State Government, led by Governor Umar Namadi, in promoting peaceful coexistence and enhancing security within the community.
“The peace we are experiencing has allowed residents to pursue their daily activities without the conflicts that once plagued the region,” Danbarde said.
The chairman praised the state government’s dedication to ensuring stability and security, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence is vital for sustainable development at the grassroots level. He also encouraged community members to preserve this achievement by fostering tolerance, mutual understanding, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
Historically, farmer-herder conflicts have been a significant security challenge in the Guri area, resulting in loss of life and property, including incidents involving security personnel.
As the 2027 general elections approach, Danbarde urged residents to uphold law and order, promoting a peaceful environment before, during, and after the electoral process.
