‘Tell the truth’ – Ojudu expresses concern about Kila amid certificate scandal

Former Senator Babafemi Ojudu has urged Anthony Kila to reconsider the notion that death is the only escape from public shame. His remarks come in response to ongoing allegations regarding Kila’s academic credentials.

Kila was suspended from his position as Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University on October 4, 2026, following an investigative report by Premium Times that accused him of fabricating his professorship. Subsequent reports alleged that Kila also falsified his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.

Despite the serious nature of these allegations and widespread calls for clarification from the public, Kila has not officially responded.

Expressing concern over Kila’s silence amid the controversy, Ojudu, who claims a long-standing acquaintance with Kila, emphasized the need for a documented response to the accusations. He called on Kila’s family and close friends to provide support during this difficult time.

In a post on Facebook, Ojudu implored those close to Kila to remain vigilant and attentive to his mental well-being. “I have no information that he intends to harm himself, but I am concerned about his welfare. Please check on him and ensure that he knows he has people he can turn to,” Ojudu wrote. He also urged that if Kila expresses suicidal thoughts, it should be taken seriously and that immediate professional help should be sought.

Ojudu acknowledged the challenges Kila might face in the coming months but emphasized that there is a path forward. He encouraged Kila to confront the situation with humility, accept accountability, and strive for a fresh start. “Tell the truth. Make amends. Accept accountability. Give yourself the chance to begin again,” Ojudu stated, emphasizing that acknowledging past mistakes is the first step toward rebuilding one’s life.
