EPL: Man Utd players not happy with club’s ‘direction’ as Carrick fights for his job

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez expressed frustration following the team’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night. In his comments, Martinez criticized the club’s leadership for what he perceives as a lack of ambition and insufficient efforts to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted on X that Martinez is not the only player at Manchester United with concerns about the club’s direction. Romano also indicated that the club is considering possible sanctions or fines for Martinez in response to his statements, as reported by Laurie Whitwell.
Martinez, who is under contract until June 2027 with a club option extending to 2028, is part of a team that has struggled recently. Under interim manager Michael Carrick, Manchester United has not secured a victory in its last five matches, intensifying scrutiny on Carrick, who was appointed to the role on a permanent basis earlier this summer.
