‘We will protect valid votes in Kogi LG election’ – KOSIEC Chairman

Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission Assures Voters of Fair Process
The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mamman Nda-Eri, has committed to protecting valid votes in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday. Nda-Eri made this pledge while monitoring election preparations, emphasizing the commission’s dedication to conducting the elections fairly and maintaining neutrality.
Addressing concerns raised by some political parties, Nda-Eri acknowledged complaints but refuted certain allegations circulating on social media. He stated that some claims were unfounded and pointed out that certain parties did not fulfill the required criteria for participation in the election.
“Electoral commissions often face allegations of bias, but we will do our best to demonstrate our impartiality. No polling unit will close at 3 p.m. if voters are still in line,” Nda-Eri said, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot.
The chairman attributed the anticipated voter turnout to effective voter education and the efforts of political parties to mobilize and engage their supporters during the campaign period. He noted that the election process commenced approximately 360 days ago and is being conducted in accordance with the commission’s established timetable.
Nda-Eri encouraged eligible voters who have not yet voted to participate, underscoring the importance of voting in strengthening democratic accountability.
