Why you should stop sending money home – Peter Obi engages Nigerians in UK

Peter Obi Urges Nigerians Abroad to Refrain from Sending Money Home
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), called on Nigerians living in the United Kingdom to stop providing financial assistance to individuals in Nigeria who request money from them.
Obi made this appeal during a town hall meeting with supporters on Sunday. He encouraged attendees to motivate their family and friends back home to elect credible leaders instead of relying on financial support from abroad.
While acknowledging his imperfections, Obi cited his record as governor of Anambra State as evidence of his capacity for responsible leadership, noting significant savings accrued during his tenure.
“You have people at home in Nigeria today who are begging you for money. Tell them no! Let’s put somebody who has proven…” Obi stated. He emphasized that while he does not claim to be a saint, his actions and leadership speak for themselves.
He challenged other governors by saying, “I was not the only governor, and I challenge people if one governor can save 10 percent of the money I saved, but there is nobody that did that.”
Obi concluded that true change in Nigeria will only come when citizens become disillusioned with corrupt leaders and demand better governance.
