BARKIN LADI, Plateau State – Suspected Fulani militia members attacked a farm in Gwom-Ajang, Foron District, on Saturday, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to two others while they were harvesting groundnuts.

The attack occurred around 4 p.m., as confirmed by community leader Bitrus Gyang. He stated that the victims, who were working on the farm, were ambushed by the attackers.

“One of the women was killed, and two others sustained injuries during the attack,” Gyang said.

Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, also confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He identified the deceased as 60-year-old Mrs. Anthonia Sunday, while 30-year-old Mrs. Happiness Gwom sustained life-threatening injuries and has been transported to Jos University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Mwantiri described the attack as a tragic example of the persistent violence faced by farmers in the region. He urged security personnel to investigate the incident and take action against those responsible.

Efforts to reach State Police spokesperson SP Alabo Alfred for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
