Ogun State Police Foil Theft Attempt, One Arrested

The Ogun State Police Command successfully thwarted a suspected theft in Itori, located in the Ewekoro Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of one individual and the recovery of stolen items, including a motorcycle and a generator.

Adam Muhammed, the suspect, was apprehended by officers from the Ewekoro Division on Sunday morning, following a tip-off from an observant motorist. According to Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. when the motorist spotted an unregistered tricycle on the Onigbedu-Itori Road. The vehicle was transporting a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, and it had two passengers.

Suspicious of the cargo, the motorist alerted the police while following the tricycle to Complex Junction in Itori, en route to Papalanto. “Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives intercepted the tricycle. The two occupants attempted to flee, but one suspect, identified as Adam Muhammed, was apprehended after a brief pursuit. Efforts are ongoing to locate the second individual,” Babaseyi stated.

Initial investigations have connected the recovered items to a theft reported in Itori. Babaseyi added, “The suspect remains in custody as detectives intensify their inquiries to clarify the full circumstances of the incident and ensure all parties involved are brought to justice.”

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the swift actions of the police officers and highlighted the role of community vigilance in crime prevention. “A timely report can make the difference between a successful crime and its prevention,” he remarked. The Commissioner also reinforced the Command’s commitment to proactive patrols and urged residents to report any suspicious activity without delay.
