Yobe State Police Arrest Three Suspects in Farm Equipment Theft Case
BURSARI, Yobe State – The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with the theft and receipt of stolen farm equipment in the Bursari Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the arrests occurred after police received a distress call at the Garin Alkali Divisional Police Headquarters on October 21, 2026.
The first suspect, identified as Musa Mohammed, 40, was captured by local residents while allegedly attempting to steal farm equipment in a field near Tarabutu Village. Officers were dispatched to the scene and took him into custody.
During questioning, Mohammed reportedly admitted to colluding with Mohammed Baki, a resident of Gashua, and Haruna Wakil Sano, also known as Kogi, aged 27, to steal equipment from the Duhuwu Nima farm area. He also disclosed that the stolen items were sold to Adamu Abubakar of Gashua Local Government Area, who has since been traced and arrested.
A search conducted at Abubakar’s residence yielded two water pump generators, discharge and suction hoses, two gas cylinders, and ten solar panels, all believed to be stolen property.
In a subsequent operation on October 22, 2026, detectives apprehended Kogi, who confessed to his role in the crime. Authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspect, Mohammed Baki.
Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin commended the officers involved for their diligence in recovering the stolen items and urged farmers and community members to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local police.
