ADC to APC: Nigerians suffer, your youth leaders ride N1bn SUVs

ADC Criticizes APC for Luxury Vehicle Distribution Amid Economic Hardship
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly distributing seven luxury sports utility vehicles (SUVs) valued at approximately N1 billion to its youth leaders. The ADC asserts that this move reflects a troubling prioritization of political mobilization over the pressing economic challenges facing many Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi highlighted the stark contrast between the sacrifices being requested of the populace and the privileges enjoyed by members of the ruling party. Abdullahi pointed out that while millions of Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities such as food and transportation, the APC appears to be investing in luxury vehicles for its officials.
“President Tinubu asks Nigerians to endure hardship while his party distributes luxury vehicles to its political operatives,” Abdullahi stated. “Clearly, the burden of sacrifice falls on ordinary Nigerians, while those working to maintain the APC in power enjoy the comforts of luxury.”
He further criticized the APC for allocating resources to its political machinery without adequately addressing the escalating cost of living. “The APC has found the resources to move its campaign officials around Nigeria. However, it has failed to present a viable plan to make life more affordable for the Nigerians whose votes it now seeks,” Abdullahi added.
The ADC also questioned the rationale behind providing these vehicles for grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially in light of the high rates of youth unemployment and economic struggles in the country.
“Seven APC youth leaders can receive luxury vehicles, but millions of young Nigerians are still awaiting the jobs and economic relief they were promised. Is this the APC’s definition of youth empowerment?” Abdullahi asked.
The opposition party has called for transparency regarding the funding of the luxury vehicles, including any potential use of public resources. “Nigerians deserve to know who financed these vehicles. Until there is clarity on this matter, the ruling party cannot dismiss legitimate concerns about its priorities,” Abdullahi concluded.
