APC accuses ADC of owing staff salaries, urges Nigerians to reject Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has leveled serious accusations against the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming the party owes its employees over a year’s worth of salaries. The council is urging voters to reject both the ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the upcoming general elections.

Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC campaign council, expressed concern in a statement regarding the alleged salary arrears, criticizing the ADC National Working Committee, which is chaired by Senator David Mark and includes Rauf Aregbesola as secretary. He emphasized that many party workers depend on their salaries for daily survival and described the failure to pay them as “wicked and reprehensible.”

“It is unconscionable that a political party, which has made numerous promises to the public, is unable to pay its workers for over 12 months,” Alake stated. He further asserted that the situation raises questions about the ADC’s ability to manage national affairs effectively.

Alake accused ADC leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, of lacking sincerity and urged the public to reject them at the polls. He claimed that Atiku has a record of failing to meet financial obligations to employees, citing alleged incidents at Gotel Communication and other businesses associated with him, where workers reportedly protested due to unpaid wages.

In addition, Alake criticized Aregbesola’s tenure as governor of Osun State, asserting that his administration faced challenges in ensuring timely payments to workers and pensioners. He mentioned that the state government had implemented partial salary payments, while pensioners allegedly went without compensation for over four years.

“We are not surprised that the ADC, aligned with leaders who share the same issues, has not addressed its workers’ salary payments,” Alake said.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for Nigerians and workers to reject the ADC, Atiku Abubakar, and all candidates running under the party’s banner in the forthcoming elections. “A political party that aims to govern Nigeria must demonstrate responsible management of its own affairs and the welfare of its workforce,” he added, urging voters to make informed choices.
