Man accused of impersonating Kwankwasiyya singer granted bail

A Kano Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to Badaru Ibrahim Katsina, who faces multiple charges, including impersonation, defamation, cheating, causing harm, and obtaining money under false pretenses.

Katsina appeared before Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan at Magistrate Court No. 21 in Gyadi-Gyadi, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges presented against him. Following his plea, his attorney filed a request for bail, which the court approved with specific conditions. Katsina is required to provide a surety from either his ward head or a local imam, who must pay 1 million naira if Katsina fails to attend future court proceedings.

The charges against Katsina include allegations of opening a bank account under the name of Tijjani Gandu, a well-known praise singer associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement, and defrauding a man in Kebbi State of 8 million naira by falsely promising to arrange a musical performance.
