Kano State Governor Visits Scene of Fire Outbreak at Singer Market

KANO, Nigeria — Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf visited the Singer Market on Saturday following a second fire outbreak in the Gidan Gilas section of the bustling commercial center.

According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf arrived at the scene while the fire was still active.

During his visit, the governor called for urgent assistance from the Federal Government to provide modern firefighting equipment. He specifically requested air support and other essential tools to enhance emergency responses and prevent future incidents.

“This kind of support will greatly enhance our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies in key commercial centers like Singer Market,” Yusuf stated.

The governor praised the efforts of the Kano State Fire Service and other security agencies for their dedication in combating the fire. “I commend the Kano State Fire Service and all security agencies involved for their dedication and courage in tackling this incident,” he remarked.

Yusuf also urged traders and residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency responders as efforts to control the situation continued.
