AAUA bans signing-out celebrations over security concerns

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA) in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has announced a ban on all signing-out ceremonies and related celebrations on campus due to security concerns.

In a circular issued by the university’s Registrar, Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola, on October 30, 2026, the decision was confirmed to have received approval from the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate. This measure aims to safeguard the lives and property of the university community.

The directive prohibits any signing-out parties, processions, gatherings, or celebrations linked to the completion of academic programs on campus until further notice. It takes effect immediately, and all students, particularly those in their final year, have been instructed to fully comply.

In accordance with the ban, the university has tasked deans, heads of departments, and security personnel, among others, with ensuring adherence to the policy. Any violations are to be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Dr. Babalola warned that individuals who violate the directive may face disciplinary actions as per university regulations, and cases involving suspected criminal offenses will be referred to law enforcement agencies.
