Police bust fake dollar syndicate, arrest one, recover bags of counterfeit currency

Operatives with the Ondo State Police Command have dismantled a suspected counterfeit currency printing operation in Kiniso village, located in the Ajue area of the Odigbo Local Government Area.
During the operation, authorities arrested one suspect and seized three bags containing suspected counterfeit U.S. dollar notes.
Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh announced the operation, noting it was initiated following a complaint filed by Yusuf Nasiru, a resident of Sabo in Okitipupa. According to Jimoh, Nasiru reported that two individuals, identified as Peter Desmond and Olami Toro of Ode-Irele, approached him at his shop regarding the exchange of U.S. dollars for Nigerian naira.
Nasiru stated that he provided the men with $6,000, approximately equivalent to 8.6 million naira. However, while he was waiting to receive the naira, the suspects allegedly returned the dollars, claiming they did not have enough funds to complete the exchange, and subsequently left the shop.
Upon closer inspection, Nasiru discovered that the dollar bills returned to him were counterfeit, which prompted him to report the matter to the police.
