Three suspected kidnappers killed as troops raid forests in Kogi

Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have killed three suspected kidnappers in a follow-up operation in the Edimogbo and Obele forests of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, Kogi State. The operation occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and involved personnel from the 21 Battalion Quick Response Force (QRF) in conjunction with the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) Alloma.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the operation is part of a broader initiative by military forces to locate and apprehend individuals involved in kidnapping activities in the region. The latest action follows previous raids and search efforts in Edimogbo Forest aimed at tracking down the fleeing suspects.
According to sources, as the soldiers expanded their search from Edimogbo Forest to the surrounding Obele area, they made contact with the fleeing suspects. Upon noticing the advancing troops, the suspects reportedly attempted to flee, but the soldiers engaged them with superior firepower, resulting in the deaths of three individuals during the confrontation.
