Toyin Abraham threatens legal action over fake, malicious reports

Nollywood Actress Toyin Abraham Threatens Legal Action Over False Claims

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has announced her intention to pursue legal action against individuals and media platforms that she alleges are spreading false and defamatory stories about her.

On November 5, Abraham’s legal team issued a cease-and-desist notice warning bloggers, social media users, content creators, and influencers against the dissemination of unverified claims. The lawyer representing Abraham, Tope Salami, characterized the publications as “untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional reputation, personal integrity, and general goodwill.”

Abraham shared the legal notice on her X account on Thursday, encouraging the public to read it carefully. Her legal representatives urged those involved to cease all publication, reposting, and sharing of the alleged defamatory content on social media and other communication platforms. They also demanded the removal of existing posts, videos, and comments that contain false or defamatory statements.

The legal team further cautioned against the creation or promotion of fabricated allegations or content intended to undermine Abraham’s reputation and business interests. The notice indicated that individuals who continue to circulate or amplify such claims after receiving this warning could face legal consequences. It noted that relevant publications and posts would be preserved as evidence for potential legal action.

Additionally, the notice emphasized that the right to freedom of expression does not permit the spreading of falsehoods or the unlawful damage of another person’s reputation.

This legal action comes amidst renewed online discussions regarding Abraham and fellow actress Funke Akindele. In October 2026, a purported private audio conversation involving Abraham and a TikTok user named Bisgold circulated online, leading to a wave of reactions regarding comments reportedly made about Akindele. The authenticity and full context of the recording, however, have not been independently verified.

Abraham’s lawyers have urged the public to exercise caution, verify information before sharing, and ensure that any future commentary regarding the actress is factual and substantiated by verifiable evidence.
