Abia State Police Rescue Kidnapped Family

The Abia State Police Command announced the successful rescue of a family kidnapped by criminals on Sunday, with assistance from a local security outfit.

The operation took place in Amakama, located in the Umuahia South Local Government Area, according to police spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka. She stated that the incident was reported to the Ubakala Police Divisional Headquarters, prompting Abia State Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa to deploy tactical teams to the area.

DSP Chinaka noted that the teams, working alongside the community security group, actively searched for the kidnapped individuals, discharging warning shots into the air. The strategy reportedly led the assailants to abandon the victims, who were then rescued.

“The police, in collaboration with local security, were able to rescue the family. The rescued victims are receiving treatment,” Chinaka said.

Efforts to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene are ongoing, according to the police.
