Nasarawa United, Nasarawa Amazons task to win title

Nasarawa State Government has called on its two state-owned football clubs—Nasarawa United and Nasarawa Amazons—to aim for the titles in the upcoming 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), respectively.

As of now, Nasarawa United ranks fourth in the NPFL standings with 41 points, trailing leader Ikorodu City by three points. Meanwhile, Nasarawa Amazons holds second place in Group B with 15 points from their matches.

During a recent statement, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, expressed confidence in the clubs’ capabilities to achieve success in Nigeria’s domestic leagues.

“We remain committed to seeing our teams—both Nasarawa United and Nasarawa Amazons—compete on the continental stage, not just to secure domestic league titles,” Kwanta said, addressing the media.

He added, “We are working diligently to see that this aspiration is realized. We have talented players, dedicated coaches, and enthusiastic fans. The necessary ingredients for success are all in place.”
