Friendly: Okobi delighted to rejoin Super Falcons after maternity break

Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene Returns to Super Falcons After Absence
Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene is set to rejoin the Super Falcons, expressing her enthusiasm for returning to Nigeria’s ten-time African champions after a significant hiatus. Daily Post reports that Okobi last played for the national team during the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ottawa Rapid midfielder was not included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, as she took a break from football following pregnancy and childbirth.
Recently, Okobi received an unexpected call-up for the Super Falcons’ upcoming friendlies against Cameroon. She expressed her gratitude for the invitation, stating, “I’m excited and happy to be back in the team again. I’m grateful and honoured. I can’t talk about my expectations at the moment. The way I do things is to take one step at a time,” she shared with the Super Falcons media.
Okobi also addressed the criticism she has faced on social media, emphasizing her focus on her personal journey. “I know what I did and what has happened to me since childbirth. It’s a blessing and not a curse,” she added.
With 27 appearances for the Super Falcons, Okobi’s experience will be crucial as she embarks on this new chapter with the team.
