Makarfi, Kaduna State — Suspected bandits attacked a community in the Makarfi Local Government Area early Monday morning, resulting in multiple fatalities and several kidnappings.
A video shared on social media by Hon. Nuhu Sada, the Social Democratic Party candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, depicted scenes of chaos and fear, with gunfire audible in the background. The footage showed residents fleeing as the assault unfolded.
In a post accompanying the video, Sada commented, “Night of Terror in Makarfi, Zaria. This young boy watched helplessly as bandits kidnapped his grandmother. Is the North safe?”
Another video suggested that the attack was still in progress at the time of its recording. Sada’s earlier post indicated that residents were in distress, with people reportedly screaming and seeking safety.
One young boy recounted the harrowing experience of his family during the incident, saying that armed assailants invaded their home. He described how the attackers struck a woman with the butt of a gun and assaulted another before abducting his grandmother.
“When they came, my grandmother asked me to give them our phones, which I did. They slapped the wife of the house and injured a woman with the edge of their gun before taking my grandmother,” the boy explained.
He also noted that the attackers fled in the direction of Tashan Maliki following the raid.
Footage from the scene showed frightened residents calling out and running for cover as gunfire echoed in the background, with warnings to avoid moving around.
As of this report, local authorities have not provided an official statement regarding the incident, including the number of victims or kidnappings.
