Multiple-vehicle crash sparks fire, causes major traffic gridlock in Lagos

Multiple-Vehicle Crash on Admiralty Way in Lagos
LAGOS—The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed a multiple-vehicle accident on Admiralty Way, near Admiralty Roundabout and Road 14, on Monday. The incident involved three vehicles, one of which reportedly caught fire.
LASTMA announced the crash on its official social media account, accompanied by a video showing one vehicle engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising into the air.
As a result of the accident, traffic was significantly impacted, prompting authorities to redirect motorists to Road 14 for access to Durosimi Etti Road.
In a subsequent video, firefighters were observed extinguishing the flames, although the damaged vehicle was completely destroyed. LASTMA personnel remained at the scene to manage traffic and implement a counterflow system, allowing vehicles to safely reconnect at Admiralty Roundabout.
The agency also reported that members of the Nigeria Police and additional fire service personnel were en route to assist, while LASTMA continued to oversee the restoration of normal traffic conditions in the area.
