Police Neutralize Three Suspected Bandits Following Murder of 67-Year-Old in Benue
Benue State police officials announced on Monday that they have neutralized three suspected bandits involved in the murder of a 67-year-old man in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama, a security expert focusing on counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, reported that the incident occurred on March 7 at approximately 7:30 p.m. He stated that armed assailants, allegedly linked to a local criminal leader known as “Chen,” abducted Zaki Sughter Agenbeer from his home in the Une Tongov community.
According to Makama, the attackers fatally shot Agenbeer after accusing him of sharing information about their activities with law enforcement.
Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Katsina-Ala, in coordination with the DPO for Ukum, organized patrol units to investigate the situation. Their efforts led to an armed confrontation with the suspects, resulting in the death of three individuals.
The police recovered Agenbeer’s body, which has since been transported to the Zaki Ibiam Hospital mortuary. Security personnel are currently conducting search operations in the surrounding areas to locate additional suspects.
